First Camp Out Of The Year

Not a big safari/expedition butt what the hell, ya gotta start somewhere/time

Got out my old MSR GoreTex expedition tent and pitched it in big yard and stayed therein Fri and Sat nites last

Very pukka tent, snow flaps and pull outs/tie downs..............bring it on!

Rained (no drizzle) all Sat nite and some water came in the floor seems it seamed, I think that probably I need to re do all the seems

Stayed warm and dry and really slept quite well

This tent is the only application of Gore Tex that I know about where ya could actually see evidence of water vapor going somewhere

Some years kcab Mrs D et self were in Colo juan fall at (9,000' (+) outside of Lake City in an Uncompahgre Nat Forest camp ground, "cold" and dry

There wuz frost on the tent (dry interior walls) and no frost on ground, etc, probably 'nuff body heat inside tent to create a bit of "help" (enhanced vapor pressure) on inside to push vapor through the G Tex to condense on the outside

New Saddle At The Shoppe

I'm trying out a "Brooksish" Cardiff Gull saddle on my SomaFab Smoothie ES, it tensions with an allen wrench pretty much like a Brooks, they come in brown and black
This saddle is showing up under different guises, Gyes, Velo Orange, and in several different models, avec springs etc., a' la Brooks

The rail section is quite long which gives it a bit of back-forth positioning; it measures about 155mm x 280mm; a bit longer and narrower than a B-17
Intro out the door @ $80

Five (5) riders incl self did a modest self contained ride in KS, 10/16 - 10/19

The ride was organized by Howard Thornhill who puts together a similar ride every Oct

Howard's last year's ride wuz four daze down and around the Kerr Lake area with literally no head wind but for maybe a couple of miles coming back into Sallisaw where we had left the vehicles

This year had a smaller group that started out with chilly temps butt actually wuz a good time with a couple of bona fide screw balls in attendance not counting self (obviously) but what else is new? It wuz low key fun on a personal level

From Parsons > Cherryville > Altamont > Oswego > Parsons, a loopy thingy with some back tracking, I wood have liked to have ridden a bit more but having convenient nite/camp stops controls the event a bit

Big Hill Lake, a very nice CE area near Cherryville wuz Thur nite's stop

Fri nite at a nice community municipal park 3-5 mi outside of Altamont (small lake/pond)

There were quite a few RVers there that work on contract basis at an Amazon.com distribution center nearer Coffeyville that Amazon buses the drones to work and back and pays the RV site fees..............weird but interesting!

We had a nice visit with a couple of the City of Altamont folks behind the parks efforts and got our picture taken that now shows up their web page

http://www.altamontks.com/lake1.htm That is our group the top left pic

Camped at the "Community Rec Park" in Oswego Sat nite , and back to Parsons Sun
